Google Plus

80 Million Google Places Pages Have Moved to Google Plus

I’ve often repeated that Google Places is the number one way of getting local online prospects to make a call to you...and I predicted Google was making a big play for Google + to integrate local search.

Whilst much of the backend of the Google Places system remains, i.e. the Google Places dashboard (where you update your details, add photographs & input other information) you now have more control over your visual elements and social interaction with your Google+ pages

Here’s what you should do.
  • Keep on with your traditional Local SEO campaigns just as before (listing on local directories, local keywords in your copy, consistent NAP info (name, address, phone number).
  • Claim both your Plus and Place pages for your business.
  • Get your Plus page linked from your website on each page (much like your NAP info)
  • Get a small amount of Google+ activity such as postings of guides/download/info
  • Tell all your existing clients who have an @gmail.com address that you’re on Plus & you’d appreciate a follow (because they can do this easily)
  • Make it a regular task to add in additional Google+

Google Plus and rankings...

Rankings have been affected dramatically.
This is radical change from Google. There is no doubt that they are doing this to increase social interactions about local businesses. Reviews and recommendations are important and you should be facilitating these and asking for them. (And monitoring them).

If you haven’t the time to claim your Google+ listing I’ll do it for you for £477.
